The phrase “appointed by Holy Spirit” is used in connection with the appointment of Elders and Ministerial Servants in the congregations of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Are they appointed directly by the Holy Spirit and therefore should be obeyed as if God were speaking through them or directing them? Or are they appointed by men? What light do the scriptures give on the subject?
